Probability

We had a double class today. In the first we collected students tossing 100 coins experiment results. We found that in 3600 throws that Heads happened 59% of the time. This is close to the expected value of 50%.

We then did some questions using Venn diagrams to solve probability questions.

The Line

In the second class we started Chapter 11 on Coordinate geometry of the Line revising items from the 1st year course. Introducing ideas such as:

• The coordinate plane, x and y axes
• x and y coordinate of a point
• 4 quadrants
• Midpoint (average, middle point)
• Distance between two points.
